Dear Richard... Your Frequently Asked Questions
Do you sing with piano or orchestra?
The simple answer is – both! Richard is experienced in singing with piano for concerts, smaller opera companies, and private occasions, and with orchestra for choral societies, opera companies and outdoor galas. If you wish to book Richard to perform and do not have a pianist available, Richard will arrange to bring his own pianist and high quality digital piano if required.
How many people can you sing to?
Richard has sung to audiences of over 5000 people, and to private parties of less than 40 people! You provide the audience, he’ll provide a great show!
What do you wear?
Richard normally performs in full dinner jacket outfit for opera galas and classical concerts, a smart suit for weddings, and a black suit and tie for funerals.
Do you need a PA system or microphones?
Given the choice, Richard will always sing without a microphone in venues with a good acoustic. For large-scale outside performances, like all singers, he will require a good PA system.
You’re an operatic tenor – what voice is that?
The tenor is the highest male voice in opera, he’s the man who get the top notes, the lead roles and the girl – usually! Pavarotti, Domingo, Carreras, Cura and Bocelli are all famous tenors.
Where can I hear you sing live?
Richard performs regularly with UK opera companies, including Hatstand Opera, Candlelight Opera and Cameo Opera. Keep an eye on his blog for details of forthcoming performances.
